First of all, to find good breakfast restaurant in Melbourne is not that difficult. But to find the best of them, requires a great appetize and to go out to eat often. Therefore, it’s what Samurai Gourmet does better, eating in the best places to assure the people. Where to taste the best food in the city. As a result, it’s when I went to Higher Ground a modern breakfast restaurant located in the CBD.

Moreover, Higher Ground is a wide place, cozy and also a beautiful style restaurant. Besides, surely with great food. In fact, I have been twice here, to continue tasting most of the menu. Because one visit, it wasn’t enough and certainly twice neither.

In addition, Higher Ground has award-winning cuisine, specialty coffee and signature cocktails offer a truly immersive experience from morning through to the evening. That is to say, it’s not just open for breakfast, also thursday to saturday its doors are open for dinner, starting from 5pm until 10pm at night.

After that, I have tried three dishes here. Hence, in my first time I got the Confit Duck Leg with Sweet Potato Waffle and for sure a latte. So then, and my second visit at the breakfast restaurant, I got the Nduja on toast and the Grilled Snapper brioche sandwich, and the rest is story.

Confit Duck Leg with Sweet Potato Waffle

In fact, I love duck and knowing that with sweet and citrus goes amazing well. Therefore, when I saw it on the menu with ingredients such as potato waffle, blackberry and sherry sauce. Above all, I had to ordered, to realize how delicious it is. In short, it was so good, with the perfect balance of duck’s fatty flavors plus the sweetness of potato waffle and citrus sauce.

Nduja on toast

Secondly, the other dish that I tried at Higher Ground was the Nduja on toast with salsa verde, fried egg, salted ricotta and shallots. Not to mention that food without chili on my diet, is almost not allowed. In other words, I love spicy food. So, the Nduja gave me, all what I needed it this toast plus the ingredients beside it. As a result, a spicy delicious toasties.

Grilled Snapper Brioche Sandwich

Thirdly, I got the grilled snapper because is one of my favorite fish. Besides, adding the jalapenos slaw and yuzu mayo something beautiful has to come. But it was bit less of flavors compared to other two dishes before. On the other hand , the sandwich plays its roll, due to, the fish is slightly flat in flavors. In short, the grilled snapper is recommended for those seafood lovers.
