First of all, Taqueria Honorio gave me the best tacos and the best food of my entire life. Yes, it was the best, I repeat. In fact, I’ve been trying typical food in different countries. But I have not tried a better Mexican food than these tacos At Taqueria Honorio in Tulum.

In addition, I could put in the same level the sushi in Tokyo alongside the tacos in Tulum, Mexico. However, the price makes the difference between these two delicious food. In other words, each taco costs $18 Mexican pesos around $1 AUD. Instead, you need to spend AUD 50 for the sushi in Tokyo to get a few good ones. In short, the best food does not always come from the most expensive restaurants.

Maybe only some people know the Danish Chef Rene Redzepi. But he is the one who runs one of the best restaurants in the world, “Noma”, in Copenhagen. Moreover, on April 12, 2017, the Danish chef and his team opened a Noma Mexico pop-up in Tulum. These are the four tacos served in the taqueria such as:

  • Cochinita Pibil marinated pork with annatto and spices
  • Lechon al horno marinated baby pork with spices and cooked in stone oven
  • Poc Chuc “Carne asada” pork steak roasted on charcoal, marinated with bitter orange and spices
  • Relleno Negro de Pavo turkey meat marinated with mixed of roasted chillies and spices, besides the hard boiled egg on the top

After, I’ve tried all the tacos, let me tell you, which was the best for me.

First, starting with the Cochinita Pibil with pickled onions on the top and add some habanero sauce and pico de gallo. Certainly, it’s going to be so delicious.

Then Lechon al horno baby pork is also so good, plus the chicharron that put this taco to the next level, another great choice to eat this Mexican food.

Moreover, Poc chuc “carne asada” is tasty but is not my favourite taco at Taqueria Honorio.

In short, to finish, the best taco for me was Relleno Negro de Pavo with the hard-boiled egg, habanero sauce and pico de gallo. Indeed, it is terrific and delicious.

  1. WOW! Taqueria Honorio must have been amazing! I’ve been to Mexico a few times and did taco street tours there (a few times). Never came across a turkey taco anywhere. Tacos do taste different in Mexico. Even the tortillas taste different.

  2. I’m watching a Netflix series on Tacos and this place was featured as one of the best in Mexico. ¡Muy bueno!
