Brunetti opened its doors in 1985 as an authentic Italian pastry shop and Italian restaurant located in Carlton. Since then, the business has grown into one of Melbourne’s iconic cafes, with the finest coffee, traditional cakes, gelati, and savoury selections of Italian food.

In fact, every week I have to come to the Italian pasticceria Brunetti to get a coffee and a small cake to have breakfast because without a doubt it is the best pastry shop in Melbourne. Besides, coffee has become better and better, making a usual spot for having coffee. Moreover, the cakes are delicious, and the gelati is fantastic. Also, you can find here the pizza al taglio, which means a slice of pizza, and Italian panini and piadina, which are excellent. In addition, also Brunetti is an Italian restaurant serving authentic Italian food such as salumi, pizzas, pasta, dessert and drinks.
Brunetti counts on multiples location in Melbourne, even in the airport. Hence, it will always be easy to find Italian food anywhere in the city. Moreover, the pastry shop makes incredible cakes and every year when my birthday comes I must buy one of them.

My favourite in the Italian Pasticceria
Certainly, I have my favourite Brunetti in the city, which is at Flinders Lane, to try Italian food and breakfast. Therefore, when I am in the city, I must visit the Italian restaurant to have breakfast and eat the Eclair Strawberries and Apple Strudel because they are divine.
However, I want to warn you that at Brunetti, I had one bad experience when I went to eat the Spaghetti ale Vongole because it was the worst, and I could not finish it. In other words, it was dry and sticky and did not taste like anything. By the way, I haven’t tried the whole pasta menu in the Italian restaurant, but what I ate was not worth it.

In short, the Italian restaurant Brunetti is one of the best for coffee, breakfast and cakes. On the other hand, I wonder if it is one of the best for pasta because it is very average. For this reason, I rated 4,5 to Brunetti instead of a higher score.

I find that it is SELDOM that a restaurant does amazing food and spectacular desserts. More often than not it is usually one or the other.
