Not all the dilemmas are bad that is what I learnt at Supernormal. Due to, when I got the menu. Then, I started to read the dishes on it, such as Japanese ramen, Chinese dumplings and Korean BBQ pork shoulder. It’s there where the good dilemma began.
In fact, Supernormal brings the modern Asian flavours to its kitchen. Mainly, influences from Tokyo, Shanghai, Seoul and Hong Kong. By the chef Andrew McConnell that any dish has a sophisticated way of presentation.
Moreover, it’s not a secret that Supernormal does it well. And nobody told me I realized myself. It all started, on each day, when I was on my way home, after work. Walking outside of a busy restaurant every lunch and dinner. My attention, immediately kicked my mind and when I decided to come in, to try the food.
Before getting in, the Asian restaurant already counted with One Chef Hat by Good Food Guide that’s make sense right, to be a super busy place.
Supernormal My best Dilemma
First of all, this place is an Award Winning restaurant for a fair price. In other words, not so cheap and also not so expensive. But, it always depends how much you eat or drink. Besides if it is good food and good drinks, to spent a little bit more sometimes worth it.
Prawn & Chicken Dumplings Chilli & Vinegar Sauce
Indeed, it’s not strange to see me always start with dumplings in an Asian restaurant. Because these are good and plus, if I am eating in the best place is even better. Therefore, I’m still ranking these dumplings as my favorites in Melbourne.

The second dish, a fresh and nice entree, the fast it goes, the most delicious it was. In fact, the tuna mixed with avocado is perfect but if you add the broad beans is more incredible.
Slow-Cooked Szechuan Lamb Sesame Bread & Coriander
In my diet, big dishes must be in my table and the slow cooked lamb was one of the biggest at Supernormal. But not just that also super tasty, dipping the sesame bread into the lamb juices and plus the green coriander sauce. In short, an amazing Chinese dish that can be eaten half piece to $37 AUD or whole piece $49 AUD.
Lunch At Supernormal Chicken Ramen & Dumplings
Certainly, ramen is one of my weakness. And when it was put in the lunch menu at Supernormal I couldn’t resist the desire to try it. As a result, it was so delicious but with a bit lack of japanese flavors. That is to say, I have eaten very authentic ramen in Tokyo at Tsuta Japanese Soba Noodle, New York at Momofuku Noodle Bar and Melbourne at Shujinko. And those gave me real Japanese taste.
Baked Meringue, Strawberry, Shiso & Plum wine
At last, the dessert sweet and better with some alcohol kicking my tongue by the plum wine. Remember me that a simple dish with a great presentation can be featured more than good.
