One of my latest dinner in Melbourne, it was at Saravanaa Bhavan. In fact, the Indian restaurant gave me an amazing experience with South Indian food. Because, it was so tasty but also for a fair enough price. Therefore eating a lot, it was not an impediment and surely my wallet saved some cash.
After all I said, don’t expect a fine dining. In other words, here you will find delicious humble food.

Besides, to know about this place, definitely you must be Indian or love this food. Due to, here it’s a very authentic cuisine with traditional flavors, where attracts the most people from India, who live in Melbourne. That’s why without my Indian friend this restaurant, perhaps I could have never found it.

Samurai Gourmet at Saravanaa Bhavan
Once I entered with my friend at the restaurant, we decided to drink Indian beer “kingfisher“, to start our dinner. Meanwhile, we waited for the food, which dishes such as Masala Dosa, Cheese Masala Dosa and Idly Sambar were chosen, to enjoy a tasty dinner eaten by hands.
IDLY Sambar
Starting with the rice cake and some dipping sauces, travelling into the unknown of delicious Indian food. In the meantime, when I was tasting all the sauces, trying to figure out what was there inside in each of them. That is to say, the green sauce was made with coriander and it was my favorite, then the white sauce with coconut and the other three left, I could realize the flavor of just one, that was with peanuts. As a result I’m not an expert with Indian food but my palate can distinguish very well, good food or bad. Therefore I’m pretty sure that this dish was amazing.
Masala Dosa & Cheese Masala Dosa
If the first dish was amazing. Surely, the next two were heaven, pretty much both had mashed potatoes with spices into the dosa, besides the same dipping sauces as the first dish. But one of them, it had melted cheese and it was the best, which has the shape of a triangle. In short, the mix of cheese and potatoes together was incredible. And after almost one year, it has been one of the most beautiful dinner at Saravanaa Bhavan eating with my hands instead of cutlery.
Filter Indian Coffee

However, the dinner at Saravanaa Bhavan didn’t finish there. Because, in the restaurant also had Indian coffee and to have an idea, is just milk and coffee that is filtered. Besides the taste of the milk is super strong as if was just taken from the cow. As a result, I loved it, due to I was remember me my childhood, when usually my grand mother was buying the milk coming fresh from the cow.
