Aheste the modern Turkish cuisine. In other words, eating here the experience was distinct. Because, the most what I ate in Istanbul was street food, abundant dishes and nice breakfast. However “Aheste Restaurant” gave me Mezes, that’s means Tapas in Spanish. That is to say, small portions of food. Besides, that allows you to taste many dishes, but not getting full so fast.

In fact, the restaurant is a cozy place seemed to fine dining, with a great staff that makes your experience even better. On the other hand, the price is accessible around $85 -90 AUD. Besides, the quality is amazing. Therefore, the restaurant is outstanding in the 50 Best Discovery.


Certainly, the decision to eat here, it happened after a week in Istanbul and tasting too much local food. Perhaps, not everyone knows that Turkish cuisine is really strong in street food, sweets, meat and fish. Also with very traditional ways of cooking that has been for centuries. I could say that all the dishes were amazing here. And it’s true this meze was very tasty.

Pan fried Veal liver with Sumac and Onions the best at Aheste

Surely, this one was my favorite and the most tasty. Due to, the veal liver were so tender but also flavory, plus the onions make a perfect match that highlight the flavors even more.


In fact, kokorec is well known as a Turkish sandwich and popular as a street food in Istanbul. But at Aheste restaurant, they put it into a very tasty dish to eat it more elegant beautiful.

Rice Pudding

To be honest I never expect to find a rice pudding here. Because, it’s simple and also I didn’t know that in Turkey this dessert was popular. However, a dessert that it was with me, all my life. Certainly, not to order it would have been a sin. As a result, a good memory from my childhood.
